In this second part of my retrospective Oscar Outlook, I’ll be eliminating a couple of films that simplify the complicated, and a monstrosity from the 1950s that amounts to very little.

In this first part of my retrospective Oscar Outlook, I’ll be eliminating a trio of overlong snores, and two classic musicals that have aged poorly.

Hands down one of the most popular actors and directors in the history of the cinema, Clint Eastwood is now 94 years young and it’s been rumored that this film “Juror #2” will be his final production in the famed Hollywood wheel.

If you are not a huge fan of all the dramatic Oscar bait films being pumped out into your local cineplex this time of year, then take a deep breath and exhale. You have been saved by this rock solid alternative, now in theaters.

With some of the busiest travel days of the year now upon us with Christmas and New Year’s, it is rather timely for Netflix to release their #1 streaming action-crime drama this week called “Carry-On”

Christmas Day is less than one week away now in case you no longer own a calendar, and the masses are always looking for a new holiday family film to add to their playlist.

In less than two weeks’ time, the jolly, chunky man with the white beard will be holding his breath, squeezing and shimmying that red velvet suit down our chimneys! Make sure you remember to leave those cookies and milk out on the kitchen counter. Although, in my house, they would never last long enough for Santa to get his share.

Without any doubt, or a second thought in mind, it is the absolute best time of the year! Dark by 4:30 p.m. 25 degrees outside at best, with a wind chill that makes it feel about 10. Frostbitten digits, while I work outside for my day job on the road, lying to myself that I am being hit with a tropical breeze. Mind over matter they say. Oh, and what a joy it is at the very thought of going home for the holidays in a few short weeks’ time with my chain-smoking family who not only can’t stand themselves, let alone me.
