The Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre Township was ranked in the top 100 venues of similar size in the U.S. and the top 200 arenas worldwide according to Pollstar’s mid-year ticket sales report.

Pollstar is a trade publication covering the worldwide concert industry, and rankings for its mid-year report were based on total paid attendance between Jan. 1 and June 30.

Mohegan Sun Arena, an SMG-managed venue, ranked 93rd in the continental U.S. and 157th in the world during this time.

“Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Northeastern Pennsylvania continues to be a worldwide leader in the sports and entertainment business,” SMG General Manager Brian Sipe said, according to a press release from the venue.

“If you look at the list of the top markets in the entire world and to know that we, at just under 10,000 seats, are ranked right beside them, I think that is a testament to the success of our arena.”

Numerous sporting, community and retail events not included in Pollstar’s consideration were also held at the venue, including Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins games, the state junior wrestling tournament, Monster Jam, and the NEPA Home and Garden Show.
