Volunteer Workday, 6 to 8 p.m. June 7 at Nescopeck State Park, Honey Hole Road, Drums. Join us for some light trail work! We’ll hit the trail to help remove brush and improve conditions for hikers. Equipment is provided. Long pants and a long sleeve layer are recommended. Meet at the park office. Registration requested so we can plan projects and equipment accordingly. 570-403-2006.

Bear Creek Preserve, difficult 8-mile hike with the Susquehanna Trailers Hiking Club. Meet at 10:45 a.m. June 10 at the Sears Auto Center, Wyoming Valley Mall and leave at 11 a.m. Bring lunch and water. Leader Nicole Gfeller 570-735-4359.

Brady’s Lake Hike at State Game Lands 127, part of hiking series. Join a naturalist at 9 a.m. June 15 at Brady’s Lake, off Route 940. Approximate address is 106 Brady’s Lake Road, Pocono Pines, PA 18350. Drive about 3 miles on dirt road to reach Brady’s Lake, where we will hike 4 miles and listen for birds. Birding at Frances Slocum, a leisurely walk through the park to seek out beautiful birds with Bruce Troy of Wild Birds Unlimited. 8:30 a.m. June 16. Frances Slocum State Park, Kingston Township. Meet in the parking lot at the Environmental Education Center and boat rental. Bring your own binoculars. Info: 570-675-9900

Lackawanna State Park, moderate 9-mile hike with the Susquehanna Trailers Hiking Club. Meet at 9:45 am. June 17 at Park & Ride on Route 315 in Dupont and leave at 10 a.m. Bring lunch and water. Leader Al Chapacharis 570-806-1754.

Kayaking Level One, an hour-long session for people ages 9 and older who have never kayaked before, 3 p.m. June 20, Nescopeck State Park, Honey Hole Road, Drums, $5 per person, payable on the day of the program with exact change required. Call 570-403-2006 to register.

Kayaking: Lake Paddle, 5:30 p.m. June 20 at Nescopeck State Park, Honey Hole Road, Drums. This is not instructional, so you should have attended introductory course or have kayak experience to sign up. Register in advance by calling 570-403-2006.
