Archery for Kids, beginners are invited to join the park naturalist for an introductory program. Meet behind the Patrick Solano Education Building at Frances Slocum in Kingston Township. 10 a.m. June 30. For ages 9 to 14. Salamander Search, for ages 6 and older, starts in the Campground Amphitheater with a short introduction to salamanders. Then the group will embark on an amphibian adventure and try to catch live examples. 2 p.m. June 30, Frances Slocum State Park in Kingston Township.

Shades of Death and Sand Springs Trails, at Hickory Run State Park, part of park hiking series with naturalist. Meet at 9 a.m. July 11 at Hickory Run State Park Office, Route 534, White Haven. Length 3.5 miles. Terrain difficult. No registration required. Free. Please wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring water. Well-behaved and friendly dogs on a leash are welcome. Volunteer Workday, 5:30-7:30 p.m. July 12, at Nescopeck State Park, Honey Hole Road, Drums. Join us for some light volunteer work! Equipment is provided. Introduction to Kayaking for Seniors, 1 p.m. July 17, Nescopeck State Park, Honey Hole Road, Drums. Lake Frances is perfect for beginners. This hour-long session is for folks who have never kayaked before. You must register in advance by calling 570-403-2006. Wear shorts and shoes that can get wet and meet park staff at Lake Frances in the park. $5 per person, payable the day of the program with exact change required.
