First Day of Summer Hike, along the Grand View Trail to see the mountain laurel in bloom. Bring a camera. Hike is a moderate, 2-mile trek. 9 to 11 a.m. June 21. Riverfest, family event features live animal shows, music, activities for kids, food, vendors, DCNR, PA Fish & Boat, Forestry, Master Gardeners, kayak displays and more. Noon to 5 p.m. June 23 at Nesbitt Park in Kingston.
Lehigh Gap Trails, difficult 8-mile hike with the Susquehanna Trailers Hiking Club. Meet at 9:45 a.m. June 24 at the Sears Auto Center, Wyoming Valley Mall and leave at 10 a.m. Bring lunch and water. Leader Tom Barnard 570-262-7957.
Archery for Kids, beginners are invited to join the park naturalist for an introductory program. Meet behind the Patrick Solano Education Building at Frances Slocum in Kingston Township. 10 a.m. June 30. For ages 9 to 14. Salamander Search, for ages 6 and older, starts in the Campground Amphitheater with a short introduction to salamanders. Then the group will embark on an amphibian adventure and try to catch live examples. 2 p.m. June 30, Frances Slocum State Park in Kingston Township.
