The F.M. Kirby Center announced today that comedian and actress Wanda Sykes will bring her Oh Well Tour to the downtown Wilkes-Barre theater at 8 p.m. Nov. 1.

According to a press release from the venue, “Sykes has been called ‘one of the funniest stand-up comics’ by her peers and ranks among Entertainment Weekly’s 25 Funniest People in America.”

Sykes’ work has touched on politics, her personal life and observational humor. She has performed on multiple television comedy specials on Comedy Central and HBO. Most recently, her special “What Happened … Ms. Sykes” premiered on Epix in fall 2016.

Sykes has secured acting roles in feature films “Monster-In-Law,” “Evan Almighty” and “Snatched,” performing alongside Jane Fonda, Steve Carell and Amy Schumer.

In 2012, the multi-faceted performer partnered with producer Page Hurwitz to form Push It Productions, a company dedicated to creating quality, comedy-based programming for network and cable TV outlets.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through the Kirby Center box office, online at kirbycenter.org and by phone at 570-826-1100. A pre-sale for Kirby members begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday through the same outlets.
