The F.M. Kirby Center announced today that comedian Jo Koy will bring his Break the Mold Tour to the downtown Wilkes-Barre theater, 71 Public Square, at 6 p.m. Nov. 11.

According to a press release from the venue, “as one of today’s vastly growing stand-up comedians, Koy sells out comedy clubs and theaters across the nation with his infectious, explosive energy onstage. The comedian pulls inspiration from his family, specifically his son, that inspires humor across all boundaries.”

Koy credits his mother for his stand-up and acting chops, because she encouraged him to participate in school talent shows and to hold impromptu performances for his family and friends. He later took that foundation to Las Vegas, where he performed at a coffee house, and eventually to Los Angeles.

The comedian has had two highly-rated Comedy Central specials, “Don’t Make Him Angry” and “Lights Out.” In 2017, Koy released his third comedy special, “Jo Koy: Live from Seattle” as a Netflix Original.

Koy tours across the nation and is a weekly guest on podcast “The Adam Carolla Show.” He also hosts his own podcast, “The Koy Pond,” and he’s been featured on over 100 episodes of “Chelsea Lately” as a season regular roundtable guest.

Tickets range from $39 to $114 (VIP) and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through the Kirby Center box office, online at kirbycenter.org and by phone at 570-826-1100. A pre-sale for Kirby members begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
