Classic rock band Kansas to perform at F.M. Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre
The F.M. Kirby Center has announced that progressive rock ensemble Kansas will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 23 at the downtown Wilkes-Barre theater, 71 Public Square.
Kansas will embark on a tour this fall that celebrates the 40th anniversary of their hit album, “Point of Know Return.” The record was a successful follow-up to 1976’s “Leftoverture,” peaking at No. 4 on Billboard’s Album charts, and it featured smash hit “Dust in the Wind” and fan favorites “Portrait (He Knew),” “Closet Chronicles” and “Paradox.”
“After the success of the album ‘Leftoverture,’ it was hard to imagine when we released ‘Point of Know Return’ that this album would be even bigger, but it was,” Kansas guitarist and original member Richard Williams said in a press release. “From the album artwork to the song ‘Dust in the Wind,’ the album ‘Point of Know Return’ is really ingrained in rock ‘n’ roll history and even in popular culture.”
During the tour, Kansas will perform “Point of Know Return” in its entirety along with classic hits, deep cuts and fan favorites throughout more than two-hour performances.
Tickets range from $49.50 to $126 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Kirby Center box office, online at kirbycenter.org and by phone at 570-826-1100.
A pre-sale for Kirby members begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday through the same outlets.
