Shemekia Copeland to bring powerful voice to Wilkes-Barre’s Kirby Center

WILKES-BARRE — Sensational blues and soul chanteuse Shemekia Copeland will perform at 8 p.m. Aug. 4 at the F.M. Kirby Center, 71 Public Square, as part of the Live from the Chandelier Lobby series.

According to a press release from the venue, Copeland presents a “wide-open vision of contemporary blues, roots and soul music” with her “voice that is alternately sultry, assertive and roaring.”

Copeland has shared stages with Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Mick Jagger, Carlos Santana and more.

Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show and are on sale now through the Kirby Center box office, online at kirbycenter.org and by phone at 570-826-1100.
