Ween frontman to perform music of Billy Joel at Wilkes-Barre’s Kirby Center
WILKES-BARRE — Ween frontman and self-proclaimed Billy Joel fanatic Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman will perform a tribute to the Piano Man at 8 p.m. Aug. 5 in the Chandelier Lobby of the F.M. Kirby Center, 71 Public Square.
Freeman, who recently reformed cult-revered alternative rock outfit Ween with friend and collaborator Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo, will play Joel’s hits backed by a seven-piece band of fellow “Joelophiles.”
According to a press release from the Kirby Center, Freeman is “revisiting his deep and abiding man-love for the music of Billy Joel.”
Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show and go on sale at 10 a.m. May 12 through the Kirby Center box office, online at kirbycenter.org and by phone at 570-826-1100.
