    OPENING EXHIBITS

    Encounters and Observations, by Phil Dente, hosted by the Camerawork Gallery, the lower level of Marquis Art and Frame, 515 Center St., Scranton. The photography exhibit will open with a reception, 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Sept. 1, and continue through Sept. 30. The gallery is free and open to the public.     ONGOING EXHIBITS

    Alchemy, an exhibit featuring a series of fiber and ceramic works exploring the “vulnerability of the cloth, and the fragility of the clay” by guest artist Eva Polizzi at Circle Centre for the Arts, 130 Rear S Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre. Runs until Sept. 30. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Thursday from noon until 4 p.m. 570-288-1020.

    Retrospective art exhibit, featuring forty years of photography by Bloomsburg University professor Vera Viditz-Ward. Through Sept. 21 at the Haas Gallery of Art at the University, 400 E Second St., Bloomsburg. Free and open to the public. 570-389-5134.

    UPCOMING EXHIBITS

    Rodin: Portraits of a Lifetime-Selections from the Iris & B Gerald Cantor Collections. The Pauly Friedman Art Gallery at Misericordia University will join major art galleries around the world in celebrating the centenary of the death of the French sculptor, Auguste Rodin. Twenty works of art will be on display, comprising 17 bronze works by Rodin and three portraits of him by his contemporaries. Sept. 9 to Dec. 9, with an opening reception 5-7 p.m. Sept. 9. 301 Lake St., Dallas Township. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. 570-674-6400.

    UPCOMING LECTURES

    Holocaust Survivor Eva Moses Kor will discuss forgiveness. Kor was one of Mengele’s twins, who were subject to brutal experiments at Auschwitz.     Painting Alla Prima, meaning, “all in one go,” a two hour workshop hosted by Pocono Arts led by artist John McAllister. The focus is to complete a project in any medium in one 2 hour sitting. 18 N 7th St., Stroudsburg, 6:30 to 8:30 Sept. 6 and every Wednesday. $10 per workshop.

    Immigration and Crime, discussed by Dr. Patrisia Macias-Rojas, assistant professor of sociology at the University of Illinois at Chicago and author. She will examine the political discourse related to the two topics during the 2017 Labor Day Lecture at King’s College in the William G.     ANNOUNCEMENTS

    Call for Artists at Fall Art Expo, for the annual juried expo, coming Oct. 14-15 at the Forksville Fairgrounds, Rt. 154, Forksville. Artists can send photos of their work by mail or email. There is no fee for jurying, but there will be a $20 entry fee for up to three pieces upon acceptance. At least $1200 in cash prizes will be awarded.
