Dramatic readings were a common form of entertainment for 19th century families. Selected works of Edgar Allan Poe were included in the Pinchots’ personal library collection. The US Forest Service re-creates this form of entertainment at Grey Towers, ancestral home of the Pinchot family, as part of its Conservation and the Arts program. The US Forest Service provides these programs also as a way to carry on the family’s tradition of community hospitality.
