SCRANTON’S SECOND SATURDAY

The first monthly Second Saturday event will be held on May 10 in downtown Scranton. The merchants of the Scranton Business Alliance have planned a full day of special events to showcase all that is fresh and new in the city.

Shops, eateries and galleries will be open, as will be the Mellow Theater, which will show “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” ( www.scrantonconcerts.org).

Individual businesses will host special events at their locations with the common theme being the celebration of Mother’s Day. You can get a makeover for Mom or a special gift and pick up a voucher for a discount off of the price of a ticket to the show at the Mellow.

There will also be a raffle to raise money for the Women’s Resource Center ( www.wrcnepa.org). Prizes include a gift of personal chef services and tickets to an upcoming Community Concerts event. Donation canisters, WRC “Wish Lists” of items desperately needed at the center and information on all the good works the WRC provides to the community, will be on hand at each participating retailer.

Venues are: Lavish, Silver on Spruce, Helen Schwartz Gifts, Occasions Dress Shop, Northern Light Espresso Bar, Duffy Accessories, Now Hair Studio, Pastry & Petals, Third Gallery, Michael’s Luxury Eyewear, Downtown Fitness Center, Anthology New & Used Books, Outrageous and Nada & Co.

Downtown street parking is always free on Saturdays.
