The parties, the green beer, the beads, and of course, the Scranton and Wilkes Barre St. Patrick’s Parades — are you ready?

If you don’t already have your outfit prepared for this weekend’s festivities, you should begin thinking about it pronto. This weekend is packed with community events, not to mention a whole lot of partying. Walk the walk and dress the part. Support Wilkes-Barre and Scranton, support their local establishments and support both parades by purchasing your parade wear in advance.

Have a favorite local watering hole in downtown Scranton? Check out The Bog’s stylish tee and wear it proudly around the city all day on Saturday. You love The Bog, show everyone how much by displaying it proudly across your chest. How about a shirt that proudly states your presence in one of the greatest cities of NEPA? “I’ve been to Scranton” boldly presents where you already frequent, or if you’re an out-of-towner, a place you’ve visited and keep coming back. Both shirts are available at www.veryscranton.com and can be purchased for just $15. Also see a local bar and restaurant favorite, Farley’s, available on a t-shirt for the same price.

Whether you visit every year for your birthday to get your free lobster dinner or the night owl in you stops by every weekend for some solid bar activity, Cooper’s is on your “must-do” list this Parade Day. Why not show this locally owned establishment how much you support it? Stop by the restaurant or check it out online at www.coopers-seafood.com and pick up your “Ain’t no party like a Scranton party…” t-shirt made popular by NBC’s hit “The Office.” The famous quote is printed on the back, and the Cooper’s logo is on the front. You can buy one for a mere $12.

Afraid it might be chilly this weekend? Don’t let this deter you from visiting all of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre’s downtown locations. Keep your hands toasty with the Weekender’s official drinking gloves. Designed to keep a good grip on your beer while still allowing free-range movement for your fingertips, these gloves with the Weekender logo on them were created just for this weekend’s festivities. Call 570.831.7320 or e-mail Nicholette at ndoliva@theweekender.com to purchase your pair for just $5. Call quickly on Friday only; there is a very limited supply.

Lastly, whether you attend one parade, or for you die-hards, both, you most certainly need a checklist of all the hotspots you must visit before Parade Weekend comes to a close. The Weekender has designed two different t-shirts for this weekend, one for the Scranton parade and another for the Wilkes-Barre one. Both shirts have checklists on the back specific to each town, telling you where to go for the best Irish car bombs, to see your favorite band, etc. Some of your favorite local businesses have made the checklist and also have their logos on the shirts. Once again, you can contact Nicholette at the above e-mail address or phone number on Friday to receive yours just in time for Parade Day for just $5. Keep in mind, first come first serve.

Happy St. Patrick’s Parade Weekend, NEPA. Be ready to party.
