Issey Miyake’s Fleur de Bois makes me swoon

I consider myself a pretty picky perfume wearer. I don’t buy the trendiest scent out, and I certainly won’t run out and purchase the hottest celeb’s newest scent. I simply don’t care about what the newest fad is. Instead, I will spray a perfume a hundred times on my skin and my clothes — because these two variables could totally change the scent — and then agonize for weeks about whether to purchase the perfume or not. Perfumes smell different on everyone, and for me, a woodsier scent compliments me, or at least I think it does, and these scents are often very difficult to find.

Let’s face it. The most popular scents on the market are the frilly, flowery, girly ones because the majority of the female population likes to smell like a sun-ripened raspberry. And that’s OK if you like the sweet scents, it’s just not my cup of tea. I prefer evening scents. I like a bit of a heavier scent, one that lingers a bit more and simply seems right when putting on a cocktail dress and preparing to make a grand entrance. These scents are sexier to me and I would always prefer to smell sexy rather than sweet and bubbly. It’s purely preference and is not suggested for all. It’s just what works for my skin and my personality.

Finding the perfect wood scent is very difficult for women as usually wood scents are reserved for men. I actually find myself preferring a lot of men’s colognes over some of the most popular women’s perfumes. But that also could just be because I’m a sucker for a great-smelling guy. Gets me every time. In all seriousness however, I once wore a scent for about a week (it was a sample that came in one of my Sephora bags) before noticing it was a men’s cologne. What can I say? I liked the scent, and it complimented my skin well. In fact, if I didn’t discover it was a famous rapper’s cologne, I probably would have continued to wear it. But come on, a girl’s got to have some standards.

But now that I have discovered Issey Miyake’s Fleur de Bois, or “Wood Flower,” I’m smitten. I absolutely love this perfume and could bathe in it daily. It has the perfect combination of femininity and sultriness which is ideal for my taste. It does not smell like anything else on the market, no matter what clerks in perfume shops might try to tell you. It is unique and light, yet lingers with a touch of wood scent that makes me always want more.

And oh, how Issey teases me. He has made this scent a limited edition which is the absolute story of my life. With most perfumes I obsess over, I discover they are limited and always very pricey editions. And yet, I find them worth the expense, even if I’m left longing for the luxury several months down the road. This is how perfume designers get me. They win every time.

Google Issey Miyake right now, and treat yourself to this lovely perfume. Get busy shopping at Sephora or visit the Toiletry Kingdom online. This perfume will not last long, and you will be disappointed if you did not get to experience its splendor.

Actually, take your time, and wait on this purchase — that’s more for me, and I want all the Issey Miyake a girl can handle.
