Boots for the boys

Investing in good boots for the winter season is always a good decision. Reason being a good boot can last you for years, and durability should always be a priority when choosing the right footwear for cold conditions. Since frostbite is not usually desired, a boot with proper insulation that is water resistant and will remain durable through snow and rain is a necessity. Cold weather demands a good pair of boots. Don’t cut corners when making your decision.

Laugh if you will, but the Tractor Store has very hardy boots for inclement weather. Designed mostly for people who will not only be walking though undesirable conditions but also working in them, many of their boots will have you trampling through snow without even noticing. When examining them, be sure to read what type of insulation they have and what materials the boots are made of. Look for words in the product description such as Thinsulate and UltraDry, both materials used for ensuring dry feet. These two materials are often found in hunting boots or work boots. Many boots sold at Cabela’s, a well-known store for outdoorsmen, will have these listed in their product descriptions.

If you do not have any intentions to be working outside in cold weather for eight hours a day but you still want warm boots for the winter, you can also check out many well-known labels sold in many department stores. Not all well-insulated boots are only sold at stores for outdoorsmen. A good example of the variety of warm boots may best be shown at zappos.com.

Introduced to Zappos.com through one of my co-workers many moons ago, I can now check out Zappos.com for just about any style of shoe I can think of. Offering much more reasonable prices than many shoe stores, Zappos.com gives you a large variety and can be delivered to your door (or as my co-worker would ship them, directly to the office) ridiculously quickly. Zappos has more than just shoes, also offering all types of accessories such as sunglasses, purses, watches, etc., but its shoe collection is definitely worth bragging about. And if you want to see a full closet of Zappos.com products to see just what type of brands they offer, ask Michael Golubiewski, the Weekender’s production editor, for he has more items purchased strictly through Zappos.com than most stores even carry.

Go online and see for yourself. Zappos.com has great boots by Columbia, Keen, Frye, La Sportiva, Vasque, Garmont, and this is just to name a few. Many of these brands can be seen in this week’s Style Files.

Lace up and get your boots ready. Winter is just around the corner, and your toes trust you to make the right decision. Start browsing on Zappos.com now and narrow down your choices. Due to the variety alone, this could take the remainder of this season. Be proactive this year with your footwear. Your feet (and wallet) will thank you.
