Be my bebe this summer

If you don’t have legs that come out of your ears, shorts can be questionable. A victim of short legs myself, I have to take caution when sporting shorts, regardless of the length, because if I choose the wrong pair of shoes, I can appear, dare I say it, stumpy. And since I’d rather die than look stumpy, I seldom wear the summer favorite and tend to rely on my friends, the skirt and dress. For an instant kick of feminine attitude, put on a dress. Regardless if it is a casual dress or a full-blown ball gown, a dress will charge your estrogen levels and steer you directly towards sugar and spice and everything nice — whether you like it or not. Simply put, there’s just something about a dress. You can go from tomboy to glam instantly. Come on, you know what I’m talking about. You’ve seen “She’s the One.”

For summer dresses that won’t kill you financially, shop around at your local boutiques such as Panache, Rampel, Showroom 56, Addiction, The Vault, etc. These boutiques have flirty party dresses that will set you apart from the crowd. If you want to further your dress collection, pick a name brand you know and love and examine its dress inventory. Although the company is known for jeans, I bought one of my favorite dresses to date at a Guess store in Chicago. I wasn’t sure they would have a dress to fit my tastes — I like their jeans, but a dress? — and was delightfully surprised when I strolled in my trusty, dusty jeans retailer and found a little black dress for the desired occasion. Who would have thought?

One clothing line that seems to always save the day, regardless of what type of clothing you’re looking for, is bebe. Known for sexy dresses, trendy tops and fashion-forward accessories, bebe always steps up to the plate. Sure, some of it is ultra-trendy, but you can also find traditional clothing you can hold onto after one season. I personally have some bebe attire I bought nearly five years ago that I can still get away with wearing. If you check out bebe’s dresses, however, you won’t care how long a shelf life they have.

You’ll have one care only: to own it. This summer, bebe is sporting the mini dress. Although numerous in styles, you’ll see a common denominator: the hemline. Their short dresses can be construed as slightly risqu, but that’s the goal in mind, so have at it. If you can pull off a bebe mini dress, you should wear it, and wear it often.

Sport the mini dress with a pair of sexy bebe heels, and you’ll have an outfit sought after by many. One bit of advice, however: Save these outfits for an evening out with your friends or if you’re trying to impress the guy you’ve been eyeing up. Family functions are not the place for the bebe dress. No birthday-girl grandmother wants to see her little angel in one of these numbers.

Save it for the club, ladies.

Whether it is a formfitting Lycra-made dress or a breezy cotton version, bebe will not disappoint. Regardless of the material, bebe will have you looking sexy for those summer nights out. And the best part about it — as if there’s anything better than looking amazing when you’re trying to turn his head — is the fact that the dresses pictured here can be yours for less than $100. Hallelujah, bargain shopping. That should having you sighing “Oh, bebe” in no time.
