If you ever wondered if appearing as a Model or Man of the Week in the back pages of the Weekender could lead to bigger and better things, just look to one of the judges for this year‚??s Model of the Year contest.

Sarah Clayton, 30, of Drums, appeared as a Model of the Week in both 2006 and 2009, eventually becoming a finalist in the annual competition her second time around.

‚??I remember it being a lot of fun. The party was fun, too. I probably drank just a little too much,‚?Ě she said with a laugh.

Coupled with some outstanding opportunities and encouragement to pursue a career in modeling by her husband, Ed, Clayton reached the pinnacle of pin-ups when she had her first shoot with Playboy magazine in Nov. 2010.

The last two years have been busy with photo shoots around the globe, she said, including her latest Playboy pictorial shot in July that features Clayton as a new Cybergirl.

As a former Model of the Year finalist, she‚??ll be one of the judges ‚?? alongside Tim Hlivia, owner of Leverage Fitness Studio in Forty Fort; Angie Morgan, owner of Sapphire Salon in Pittston and Scranton; Tina Bray, co-owner of Bratty Natty‚??s Boutique in the Wyoming Valley Mall; and Mike Henger, a past Weekender Model of the Week who was featured in the publication‚??s Sexiest People edition in 2011 - looking to see how this year‚??s young men and women carry themselves.

‚??I want them to have character, I want them to be poised, and I want them to be someone who wants this and welcomes new opportunities to take advantage of this and work with it,‚?Ě she said.

Those opportunities, she said, may be greater than the Models and Men of week may recognize.

‚??The Weekender is seen by how many people every week with how many different advertisements and advertisers that support it?‚?Ě she said. ‚??You support so many different community activities that there‚??s a ton of opportunity for exposure... It definitely can parley into just about anything you want it to.‚?Ě
