James and Karen Doran, Avoca, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Melanie, to Mark Rushefski, son of the late Stanley and Celestine Rushefski.
The bride-to-be is a 1999 graduate of Pittston Area High School and a 2003 graduate of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in microbiology. She is employed as a research specialist at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia.
The prospective groom is a 1993 graduate of Old Forge High School and a 2000 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, where he earned bachelors’ degrees in mathematics and philosophy. Mark is pursuing his master’s degree in mathematics at Villanova University. He is employed as an automation and robotics engineer at GlaxoSmithKline, Collegeville.
The wedding will take place in September at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, Scranton.
