Radio Wars

Rachel Decker  by Rachel Decker
This weekend I am off to Pittsburgh with my two favorite guys in the world. We are road trippin’ it for the Fourth and taking a long earned break.

Now, I have a question for all you lovely lads and lasses out there. Who controls the radio during the trip? Your options are a.) The driver, b.) The owner of the car, c.) The passengers, or d.) Everyone takes turns controlling the music.

I am a business woman and think that I am fair and understanding. I also think that one person should not be in charge of the radio the entire way. For instance (and this is only an example), if I didn’t like the Beatles and the person controlling the radio was obsessed with the Beatles and played them 24/7, don’t you think that is unfair? I mean really. I get bored — I need variety! (And Advil costs money!)

Sharing is caring, right? I propose that the radio be shared by everyone in the car. I say estimate the time of your trip and divide it into equal parts for each member riding it your vehicle.

And, of course, you will always get the “negative Nancy” who refuses to be a team player. Well, I have found the solution. Shut them up with an iPod.

Just throwing it out there. This isn’t a problem with me and my two lovely comrades, but I was just thinking outside the box.

For all of you out there that have ever found yourself in this situation, I empathize. For all of you who haven’t had this situation happen to you yet, arm yourself and be prepared with an iPod in your car at all times — you never know these days.

Don’t be a radio whore. Share the tunes.

A very happy Fourth of July to you all. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!
