We’re back in full swing this week with positional tiers included. Keep ‘em, toss ‘em, choose them wisely. Will Week 7 be the lucky one for your team?
Get ‘em while ya can:
Brandon Jacobs (RB-New York Giants): I don’t know where last week’s 106-yard, two-touchdown performance came from, but I recommend riding this out as long as you can. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw some regression here, but as long as the rest of the Giants’ backfield is decimated with injuries, it can’t hurt to take a chance on the veteran back.
Andre Ellington (RB-Arizona): I have been unsure about Ellington because I’m never a fan of a split backfield (especially when the other option is vulturing all the goal line carries). The Cardinals are starting to realize that Rashard Mendenhall is not the answer they were looking for. Ellington has been seeing his touches in the running game and passing game improve throughout the past few weeks, and I don’t expect that to change.
Harry Douglas (WR-Atlanta): I’ll be honest here: Harry Douglas isn’t going to win anyone over with his ability to catch the ball. He does have plus speed, and Matt Ryan has a history of targeting Douglas in the endzone. Julio Jones will be out for the remainder of the season, and Roddy White has been banged up for most of the past year. Douglas might not be a high end receiver, but he just got tossed into a very favorable fantasy situation.
Leave ‘em behind:
Joseph Randle (RB-Dallas): Randle might vulture a few goal line carries while DeMarco Murrary is sidelined (and if you’re hurting that badly for a running back or flex option, you could surely do worse), but Randle’s lack of experience and overall talent showed this past Sunday. Randle averaged roughly 1.5 yards per carry last week and he has a difficult time picking up blitzes while playing passing downs. Don’t expect too much from Randle moving forward.
Riley Cooper (WR-Philadelphia): I know most Eagles fans already rushed to the waiver wire to grab Cooper after his solid performance this past week. He did look good and it seems like he might be finding a groove with backup quarterback Nick Foles, but keep in mind that Foles will most likely be handing the starting quarterback job back to Michael Vick once he is back to full health. With Vick under center, Cooper hasn’t cleared the 30 receiving yards all season.
T.J. Yates (QB-Houston): I feel like this one might be a no-brainer, but with Matt Schaub sidelined for what looks like a few weeks, some managers might jump at the chance to take a shot at a quarterback with so many weapons at his disposal. Sure, it must be nice for Yates to have Andre Johnson, DeAndre Hopkins, Arian Foster, and Ben Tate lined up alongside of him, but there must be someone with more potential left on your team’s waiver wire if you are that in need of quarterback help.
Hot start of the week:
Garrett Graham (TE-Houston): Unless you’re talking about Jimmy Graham, most fantasy tight ends don’t get much recognition anymore. I expect Graham to bounce back and have a solid performance against Kansas City in Week 7. The Chiefs pass rush is relentless and T.J Yates will spend his day checking down to running backs and Graham most of the afternoon. If you’re in need of help at the tight end position, Graham will be worth a shot this week.
Bust of the week:
Jason Snelling (RB-Atlanta): Snelling is expected to play this week after the Falcons come off their bye. Snelling was concussed in Week 5 and I don’t expect him to see a full workload out of Atlanta’s backfield. He might still have some cobwebs to shake out and he may lose touches to Jacquizz Rodgers until he is back at full health. Feel safe benching Snelling this week and fill your RB2/Flex position with a less shaky pick.
