Bridal boot camp is over (Cue the streamers and confetti! Pop the champagne!). It reminded me of the last day of school: glad the hard work part was over, but bittersweet knowing I will miss my friends. The only difference here is that I consider the teacher my friend and if that happened during school, Lifetime would make it into a movie, but I digress.


I made a big step in the right direction. I lost a total of five percent total body weight and I lost inches from every part of my body. I have toned up, slimmed down, and feel great. On the day of my initial evaluation, I was able to do a whooping two push ups. On the day of my final evaluation, I did 20 with ease. I feel so empowered.


This little bird is now flying the nest to try and maintain this new fitness lifestyle on her own. I have the skills and knowledge of what I need to do. It also helps to still have the support of my family at Changes if I have questions or need someone to kick me in the butt.

It’s New Year’s resolution time, and if your plan is to lose weight and learn a new lifestyle in 2014, I highly recommend visiting Jess and the rest of the staff at Changes. The gym’s goal is to provide women of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to have all big gym options in a fun, family atmosphere. You can get a complete workout without having to be worried about judgment or looking silly doing something wrong. Believe me, if you could do a workout wrong, I already did it. They might laugh at you for falling off a treadmill, but they’re there with a big smile and friendly hand to lift you back up.


I will close with this: thank you to Jess and all of the other girls in my camp. I am a better person both physically and mentally because of you. I may not be squeezing into a wedding gown anytime soon, but bridal boot camp is the best thing I ever did for myself.
