As an exciting addition to the Electric City Music Conference lineup, heavy metal legends, THE RODS headline a performance that also includes several Northeastern Pennsylvania acts starting at 6 p.m. Sept. 17 at Thirst T’s Bar & Grill, 120 Lincoln St., Olyphant.

The trio of Carl Canedy, David Feinstein and Garry Bordonaro has had both major and independant record label releases, toured with Iron Maiden, Metallica and AC/DC and has recently played reunion shows at high profile music festivals in Europe and South America.

Beyond THE RODS, Canedy has produced albums for Anthrax, Exciter and Overkill, and Feinstein played with Elf alongside his cousin Ronnie James Dio.

On Sept. 17, the metal heavyweights will be supported by local acts Skin-n-Bones, The Molly Pitcher Path, Polly Anna and Strawberry Jam. Better Than Bad and The Chatter will bring the evening to a close.

In a news release from the Electric City Music Conference, co-producer Joe Caviston said that having THE RODS join the conference as a headliner keeps with the organization’s mission of booking bands with a local connection as Canedy “still calls Carbondale, Pennsylvania home.”

Also in the release, co-producer Ken Norton said the show is a rare opportunity to see the rock and roll legends who “rarely play shows in American, let alone in NEPA.”

A portion of the proceeds from the concert benefit reflex sympathetic dystrophy, or RSD,/complex regional pain syndrome, or CRPS, research.

Tickets for the show cost $10 and are available at http://bit.ly/2aZIdr8 or at the door.
