10 things to do in NYC this weekend.

It’s officially summer! And, this weekend if you’re celebrating your Fourth of July in New York City, get ready to dive right into the summer action. From fireworks to hot dogs, we’ve got it all.

4th of July Fireworks: The Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks are back in Manhattan, which means you can take your pick of viewing locations in either Manhattan or Brooklyn. Decisions, decisions… Decide where to take in the views.

The Grateful Dead, a little Phish and Bowling: The Grateful Dead is celebrating 50 years of jamming with three live performances. Trey Anastasio is joining the remaining Dead members in performing at Chicago’s Soldier Field. No worries for those who might face geographical obstacles, Brooklyn Bowl is looking out for you. Starting July 3- 5, Brooklyn Bowl will be showing the live simulcast.

Hester Nights: Food festivals can be the best way to taste as many dishes from a wide variety of cuisines and Hester Nights doesn’t disappoint. Thursdays from 5-10 p.m. check out this festival for food, cocktails and live music. Hotel Eventi Open Air Plaza, 851 Sixth Avenue between 29th and 30th.

Brunch Bounce: Music, rooftop views and barbecu, what better way to spend the day? The grill will be fired up serving free hot dogs and hamburgers starting at 1 p.m. July 4, at this new venue that boasts amazing rooftop views and a killer sound system. Get your tickets in advance for this event, no tickets sold at the door.

Uptown Bacon and Hops Crawl: Celebrate your independence by indulging in bacon and beer. This Bacon and Beer Crawl will be happening in over 10 cities, including NYC, on July 4 from 3:30-10 p.m. Each location on the crawl will offer either a food item featuring bacon as a main ingredient or a beer.

Make it a Beach Day: Just because you’re visiting the concrete jungle this weekend, doesn’t mean you can’t squeeze in some beach time. NYC and surrounding areas offer a variety of beaches all accessible via public transportation. Check out this list of NYC’s best beaches.

4th Of July Cruise aboard the Harbor Lights: Hop on board this local cruise for July 4th fireworks. Sail along the waters, take in the skyline and the sites while watching the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks.

Hip Hop Revolution: This photography exhibit at the Museum of the City of New York spans the years in which Hip Hop was born, from 1977-1980. Capturing all elements of hip hop culture, from DJing to break dancing, and featuring legendary artists like Afrika Bambaata and Kool Herc, this will surely satisfy even the biggest hip hop junkie.

The World Famous Nathan’s International Hot Dog Eating Contest: The reigning champion, Joey Chestnut, has won for 8 years in a row setting the record with 61 hot dogs. For the women, Miki Sudo holds the record from last year with 34 hot dogs. This nationally televised event can be viewed live in Coney Island on July 4th. You can also grab your own Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs and have a little contest among friends.

Free Summer Movies: What’s better than viewing a movie outdoors and under the summer stars? NYC Parks sponsors free summer movies all season long at parks all over NYC. Grab a blanket, some snacks and enjoy!
