HOW’S THIS FOR A SCOOP?
A Cold Stone Creamery is in the works for 277 Mundy St., Wilkes-Barre, near the Arena Hub Plaza. Amanda Kubelis, a manager at the company’s Moosic location, informed Dish that Wilkes-Barre’s store should be open by September. FRANKLY, I’M THRILLED
Dish is happy to report that Coney Island (100 Cedar Ave., Scranton) reopened this week, 15 months after a devastating fire. You’ve been missed, Coney Island — and so have your famous Texas wieners. Welcome back!
ON THE FARM
I live for Thursdays in the summer because of the Farmers’ Market on Public Square in Wilkes-Barre, which kicks off Thursday, June 25 and wrapping up Nov. 19. I love seeing so many food vendors on the Square — especially my personal favorites Webby’s and The Gyro King. I wish they could be there every day!
This Thursday’s entertainment features Windfall Enterprises. For a complete schedule for the Farmer’s Market, which runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., visit www.wilkes-barre.pa.us.
IN THE GARDEN
I had the pleasure of eating at Eden, A Vegan Caf (344 Adams Ave., Scranton) on Saturday. Don’t let the vegan part scare you; you won’t even miss meat because the food there is so good. I highly recommend the caf’s drumsticks, which come with either barbecue or buffalo sauce. Be warned, though, because meatless sure doesn’t mean spice-less: the tasty buffalo version were so zesty, my lips went numb. Yum!
Visit www.eden-cafe.com for the complete menu.
