A NEW VINTAGE ‘PEARING’
Subarashii Kudamono, grower of gourmet Asian pears in Pennsylvania, will release its newest vintage of Asian Pear Wine this summer. To celebrate its arrival, there will be a kickoff gala Sunday, June 20 from 2-4 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Wine & Spirits Premium Collection Store (222 Northern Blvd., Clarks Summit).
Visitors will be able to sample and purchase the new wine, which will also be available in any of the 70 Premium Collection Wine & Spirits Stores in the state.
In addition to the wine samples, there will be a unique summertime gourmet food pairing to enjoy and a chance to sample Subarashii Kudamono’s delicious dried Asian pears. For more info, visit www.wonderfulfruit.com or www.winesofsubarashii.com.
DRESS TO IMPRESS
Starting Friday, June 18, Rodano’s (53 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre) will institute a dress code. Patrons will not be able to wear hats, oversized clothing, baggy pants, bandanas and men’s sleeveless shirts or undershirts.
“I wear a hat all the time,” Manager Joe Rodano told the Times Leader Monday, “but you can’t say, ‘no hats on sideways,’ you have to say, ‘no hats.’”
A notice listing the dress code is posted in the entryway with a notice that it will be “strictly enforced,” and Rodano said that those patrons who refuse to comply will be asked to leave.
“We have good people that come here,” he said. “They feel safe here. I don’t want any reasons for them not to.”
