The NEPA Skate Park Alliance will release a 22-track compilation CD Wednesday, Dec. 17, available for a $5 donation to the nonprofit group which hopes to build the Luzerne County Skate Park.The CD, available at Gallery of Sound locations and “many more local retail skate park supporters,” according to the alliance, features rare and in some cases previously unreleased tracks from: To Outlive The Beginning, Lapse Of Luxury, Title Fight, Label The Traitor, Astorian Stigmata, Drivin By, Ethereal Collapse, Charles Davis, Strength For A Reason, Tigers Jaw, An Albatross, Burial Ground, Strand Of Oaks, Runnin With The Kid, The Menzingers, Freeze Up, Redefining Nothing, Extend, Louch, Stalemate, Captain, We’re Sinking and Dirt Vultures.

LUNAR LANDING
The new nightclub and lounge Luna will open on New Year’s Eve with a Gala Grand Opening, according to a press release. It is located at 41 S. Main St. in Wilkes-Barre’s Midtown Village in the space formerly occupied by Fuse and Camera Exchange. Luna is operated by partners Lorenzo Medico and Patrick Son.According to the press release, Luna includes “an upscale Miami-themed lounge and a New York-style VIP dance club,” and a “European-style outdoor patio” will be added in the spring.
The New Year’s Eve Gala Grand Opening begins at 9 p.m. Pre-bought tickets are on sale for $50 and include admission, 2-hour open bar, 1-hour tapas and dessert plates and a glass of champagne at midnight. VIP bottle service reservations are also being taken. There will be a $10 cover for walk-ins on New Year’s Eve.

CLASSIC VINTAGE
The Vintage Theater, a nonprofit venue that will screen classic movies and house all-ages musical performances, stage productions, visual art and more, is set to open in January. The theater’s grand opening will be held Jan. 16-18 with screenings of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Thirty Nine Steps.” There will be several events before that, however, including CD-release show by So Long Pluto (Jan. 3) and a Vintage Nintendo Tournament (Jan. 10).For a full schedule and more information, visit www.scrantonsvintagetheater.com.
PLUG PULLED
“Mariama: A Tale of Freedom and Grace,” created and performed by Marian Oliker, will not be presented in January at the Electric Theatre Company in Scranton, as previously announced. Oliker is unable to travel from California due to a family health emergency. The show will be rescheduled for sometime in 2009, according to ETC.w
