CONCERT SERIES, OPEN MIC AT RIVER COMMON

The River Common in Wilkes-Barre will present an Open Mic and Concert Series on Thursday evenings in September and early October. The free, two-hour events will feature and open-mic night from 6-7 p.m. followed by a concert by a local performer at 7 p.m.

The Open Mic and Concert Series will kick off Sept. 9 with George Wesley. Future performers include Suze, Nowhere Slow, Mike Miz, Clever Gents, Cabinet and k8.

"Where else can you say you opened for your favorite musician?" Director of River Common Programming and Outreach said in a press release. "Bottom-line: It's a unique opportunity that is not offered in the local club scene and is something that people should come out to experience for themselves."

The River Common Amphitheater, which is located at the corner of River and Northampton streets, will be equipped with a drum kit and an audio and lighting back line. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Jewish Community Center of Wyoming Valley (60 S. River St.) or Downtown Arts (47 N. Franklin St.), the home of Arts YOUniverse.
