Holiday high

Denver & The Mile High Orchestra will bring its big band sound to Peckville Assembly Church in Blakely on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.

Denver and his group will play “snappy renditions of traditional Christmas favorites,” according to a press release, plus a few DMHO originals, accompanied by the Family Life celebration choir.

DMHO has performed at hundreds of churches and festivals around the world. The group has also appeared on several nationally televised programs, including “Good Morning America” and the premiere season of “The Next Great American Band.”

‘Takin’ It to the Streets’

Michael McDonald and his distinctive voice will tackle not only his greatest hits but also selections from his two Christmas albums Friday, Dec. 18 at 8 p.m. at the F.M. Kirby Center in “Michael McDonald This Christmas & Greatest Hits.”

Opera House rock

The yearly tradition of the Mauch Chunk Opera House’s Rock Christmas show returns as part of Jim Thorpe’s Olde-Time Christmas Celebration on Saturday Dec. 12 at 8 p.m. The show features The Craig Thatcher Band & Friends.

A Letter to Santa

The classic trio The Lettermen will perform holiday favorites like “Silver Bells” and “Winter Wonderland” alongside hits from their own catalog Friday, Dec. 18 at 8 p.m. at the Scranton Cultural Center (420 N. Washington Ave., Scranton).
