If you’re concerned about global warming, which hopefully you are, you should consider using eco-friendly products. Whether it’s your laundry detergent, shampoo or even your candles, you can switch over to environmentally friendly products and make a difference.

Environmentally friendly products are designed to do the same job your other products do but without using harmful chemicals to get the job done. Earth-friendly products clear out all of the toxins and harsh chemicals and replace them with biodegradable plant material that won’t agitate you or the environment.

The main ingredients found in Earth-friendly products are corn, coconut, citrus, plant oil and herbs. Look on the back of your regular detergent, and you probably don’t even know what half of the ingredients are.

The more common eco-friendly products out there are bathroom cleaners, kitchen cleaners and laundry detergents. The eco-friendly cleaning products lack the chlorine, petroleum and bleach that are harmful to your health and the environment.

Researchers have linked many of the chemicals found in conventional cleaning products to illnesses that include allergies, asthma, cancer and even reproductive issues. These chemicals won’t cause anything overnight, but exposing your body to small amounts every day just by breathing it in can start the cycle. The best way to solve this is to switch to safer, environmentally friendly cleaners.

According to the eco-friendly brand “Seventh Generation,” if every household in the U.S. replaced just one bottle of 100-oz. petroleum-based liquid laundry detergent with an eco-friendly plant-derived product, we could save 466,000 barrels of oil! It is also a good idea to switch to cold water when doing your laundry to save energy.

Other eco-friendly products for your home are soy candles. Most candles contain paraffin, which is a petroleum byproduct. When you burn a regular candle, paraffin will leave a residue of refined petroleum. Burning paraffin candles emits black soot and other harmful substances into the very air you breathe. Soy candles and even beeswax candles do not contain paraffin. Soy wax is natural, biodegradable, eco-friendly and made from renewable resources.

The renewable aspect of soy candles is a great advantage and is important to many consumers concerned about the environment. Soy candles use vegetable wax made from soybean oil. Here in the United States where soy wax is produced, the remaining soybean shells are used as animal feed. Soybeans are grown in fields across America; This benefits local farms as well as the economy.

Going green is getting easier everyday. Consumers want products that are eco-friendly and also good for their health. Whether you live in your own home or rent, there are many different products that are environmentally friendly for in and around your home.
