Strand Of Oaks

Strand Of Oaks -- aka Tim Showalter -- recently released its second album, "Pope Killdragon," which has drawn rave reviews from the likes of Pitchfork and beyond. Showalter, an Indiana native who now resides in Philadelphia, lived for several years in Wilkes-Barre, and Northeastern Pa. plays as large a role as ever in his storytelling, as evidenced in "Pope Killdragon" tracks like "Sterling," which imagines a night's stay at the now-vacant Hotel Sterling in Wilkes-Barre.

Several months ago, Showalter performed a set of songs, most of them from "Pope Killdragon," in a Weekender Session staged on a dock at a private residence in Harveys Lake. In these sounds and videos, you'll note not only the natural beauty of Showalter's voice and guitar playing, but also how it seemlessly interweaves with the neighboring ducks and other birds that chime in.
