The Rust Belt has not been kind to us, and we have place little hope in Lansing, Mich., right in the heart of the emerging recession.
Thankfully, we are proven wrong. Although we are hours early, there is an early show already taking place so the bartender invites us in and immediately gives us some beers and sets to work ordering pizzas. The bar itself becomes packed with supportive folks, and DMBQ brings down the house as lead singer Shinji ends the set with no pants on. We drive to the house of my twin brother and his girlfriend in East Lansing and spend the night cooking Ramen noodles in the company of several friendly animals.
