Who

…is Ethan Bortnick?

He’s the youngest performer ever to headline his own international concert tour, and he’ll be in the WVIA studios when his PBS special premieres on the network on Dec. 9 at 8 p.m.

His new family music special, “Ethan Bortnick Live in Concert: The Power of Music,” features the amazing 12-year-old composer, pianist, and entertainer accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra, band, and the 120-member Kids Choir.

The young musical sensation was named one of Oprah’s “All Time Smartest, Most Talented Kids,” and is joined by special guests Damian McGinty of “Glee” and Celtic Thunder and Grammy-nominated vocalist Jane Monheit for the special.

He has toured the world, connecting with diverse audiences in countries such as South Africa, Brazil, and Australia, made history as the youngest entertainer to headline a show in Las Vegas in 2011, and recently, was certified as a Guinness World Records title-holder as The World’s Youngest Solo Musician to Headline his own Tour.

What

…is the deal with all this facial hair lately?

People forewent the razor for No Shave November recently as a jest, but one local group dedicated to facial hair is using its powers for good.

The NEPA Facial Hair Alliance is holding a toy drive to help make Christmas possible for area children. The Toys for Tots drive will take place Dec. 7 from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Screwballz Bar (1474 Sans Souci Parkway, Hanover Township).

The cost of the benefit is $5 at the door and a new, unopened toy that will be donated to children in our area. As a thank you for donating, the bar will provide participants with two free draft beers.

Entertainment will be provided by Mikey Rebel and Country Line Duo. As the group said, they “plan to save Christmas one moustache at a time.”

When

…will Brian Regan make his triumphant return to the F.M. Kirby Center?

Fret not, because the hilarious stand-up comedian will take the stage April 24 at 7:30 p.m.

Regan played to a sold-out crowd at the Kirby last fall, so be quick to snag some seats. Tickets go on sale Dec. 6 at 10 a.m., with a special Kirby member pre-sale today at 10 a.m.

One of the most-beloved comics of the past 15 years, Regan burst onto the comedy scene in 1995, following his first of what are now 20 live appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman. He has released two critically acclaimed Comedy Central specials – 2007’s “Brian Regan Standing Up” and 2008’s “The Epitome of Hyperbole.”

All seats are just $39.50.
