With every new season your skin changes, particularly your lips.

Constant hot and cold temperatures, an increase of cold wind and dehydration are major factors in you lips becoming dry and flaking and not so luscious. Do your lips a service this season and follow these easy steps to maintaining your mouth’s finest assets.

Although there is no true instantaneous cure for dry chapped lips, staying hydrated with plenty of water is one of the best ways for prevention.

Licking those lips needs to stop. Constant licking causes them to dry out. Instead use a lip conditioning treatment or lip balm to protect and moisturize your lips.

Weather is definitely a major factor. Cold, dry wind and bright sun can dry them up. The sun is still out, so using a lip balm with an SPF is still a must. E.O.S (Evolution Of Smooth) lip balms are perfect for this, the have a wide variety of formulas and flavors you will never get bored with.

Exfoliating and smoothing your lips is a nice step to remove the dry skin and renew your lips. Something as simple as wiping your lips with a wash cloth and gentle face cleanser or using any store bought sugar scrub will work too. You can create your own scrub with some sugar, lemon juice and honey then massage your lips and leave for a few minutes then remove.

Some of my favorite lip products are Aveda Nourish-Mint Renewing Lip Treatment which plumps naturally over time without irritation. It smooths the appearance of fine lines by 26 percent, increases moisture by 26 percent, and with refreshing organic spearmint and vanilla flavor it cools your lips and freshens your breath.

Another is Aquaphor Lip Repair, This immediately relieves dryness and soothes chapped, cracked lips. It provides effective, long-lasting moisture, so lips look and feel healthier. Formulated with a special combination of nourishing vitamins (C, E, pro-vitamin B5), moisturizers, Shea butter, and chamomile essence, it leaves lips feeling soft and comfortable.

Lush fresh handmade cosmetics makes a lip balm called Lip Service which has been around for more than 10 years. This rich, creamy texture softens lips and has a magical Hogwarts worthy mixture of conditioning olive oil, cocoa and Shea butters, plus tangerine oil to tone. This buttery balm makes light work of softening up dry lips, especially in the winter.

Lush also carries Mint Julips lip scrub that is a Mint-chocolate pout polish.

With fresh tingly peppermint and sweet exfoliating castor sugar. Mint Julips tastes like a big, creamy bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Do your lips a service and exfoliate, protect and hydrate this season, you never know when you’ll need to use them.
