As if there weren’t already enough reasons in this world to booze it up, here we have Valentine’s Day. It’s a time that, if you’re attached, you want to do something romantic and, if you aren’t, indulging in more martinis than usual might be the way to go.

Not matter what, there are plenty of delicious libations out there (both booze-fueled and not) to liven up this holiday of reds and pinks.

LOVE POTION

Ingredients:

• 2 liter bottle of Cherry 7-Up

• 1 quart raspberry sherbet

• Whipped topping and sprinkles (optional)

How-to:

Pour 7-Up into a punch bowl or gallon drink container. Place scoops of raspberry sherbet in and stir to mix.

* For individual portions, pour a glass of 7-Up and drop in one scoop of sherbet, then top with whipped topping and sprinkles.

CONVERSATION HEARTS-INFUSED VODKA

Ingredients:

• 1 1.75-liter bottle of vodka

• 5 8.5-ounce glass flasks or bottles

• 2 7-ounce bags of Conversation Hearts

• 5 empty plastic water bottles

• A liquid measuring cup

How-to:

• Separate hearts by color. You’ll want 25 to 30 of each. It should be 30 hearts to six ounces of vodka.

• Fill water bottles with 8 ounces of vodka each, drop in the separated Conversation Hearts, and leave to process until dissolved. Every once in a while, give the bottles a good shake.

• After the candies have dissolved, you can strain any excess pieces of candy out if you prefer. If not, leave ‘em in. To strain, use a fine-mesh kitchen strainer and strain the liquid over a 2-cup glass measuring cup.

• Next, use a funnel to pour them into the glass bottles. Chill, and serve.

MONKEY LOVE SHOT

Ingredients:

• 2 ripe bananas

• 1/2 ounce of cream

• 1/2 ounce of banana liquor

• 1/2 ounce of Cointreau

• Cocoa powder

How-to:

Layer the ingredients into a shot glass and garnish with a banana spear dipped in cocoa powder.

CHOCOLATE STRAWBERRY MARTINI

Ingredients:

• Whipped cream

• 5 strawberries

• 1/3 cup of cocoa powder

• 2 ounces of vodka

• 1 ounce of raspberry liquor

• Ice

How-to:

• Muddle three strawberries in a bowl until soft and juicy, and then add to a cocktail shaker along with ice, vodka and raspberry liquor. Shake vigorously for one minute until fully blended.

• Slice two strawberries down the center lengthwise and rim the martini glass with them before dusting the glass with cocoa powder.

• Use the remaining powder to coat the cut strawberries, and then strain the shaker into the glass.

Garnish with whipped cream and a cocoa-coated strawberry.
