George Thorogood is coming to the Kirby Center for the Performing Arts to meet that need.

He and his long-time band, the Destroyers, won’t be around until March, but you can get your tickets to the can’t-miss show at Thursday, Aug.7.

Thorogood and the Destroyers are celebrating four decades in the spotlight.

“Over 8,000 live shows and 15 million albums sold worldwide later, George Thorogood is still making explosive music, still thrilling audiences, and still the baddest-to-the-bone performer in rock,” according to a press release issued by Publicist Charlene Chamberlain.

The tour, titled “40 Years Strong” will land in Wilkes-Barre on March 19, music to start by 7:30 p.m.

“For George Thorogood and the Destroyers – Jeff Simon (drums, percussion), Bill Blough (bass guitar), Jim Suhler (rhythm guitar) and Buddy Leach (saxophone) – their 40th anniversary is indestructible proof that staying true to yourself and the music can still mean something,” Chamberlain said. “And with a catalog of iconic hits that includes ‘Who Do You Love’, ‘I Drink Alone’, ‘One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer’, ‘Move It On Over’, ‘Bad To The Bone’ and more, being able to share it with audiences is what will always matter.”

“For George Thorogood & The Destroyers, and for rock & roll, it doesn’t get stronger than that – delivering the very same no-holds-barred, pull-no-punches, blues-infused, good ol’ fashioned rock & roll that has left their indelible mark on the world,” Chamberlain said.

Tickets will be available at the Kirby Center box office (570-826-1100) and at Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000). Prices are $38 & $48, plus special limited, preferred seating.
