“Who wouldn’t want to own a 1957 Chevy?” Vargas asked. “That is, like, the high point of American automotive history.” The Chevrolet One-Fifty (or 150) was the economy model of the Chevrolet line from 1953 to 1957. It took its name by shortening the car’s production number (1500) by one zero in order to capitalize on the numerical auto naming trend of the 1950s. “This car has the 265 cubic inch ‘Turbo Fire’ OHV eight cylinder engine which gets somewhere between 160 and 170 horsepower,” Vargas said. “I’ve owned it for a couple years and love taking it to car shows and cruises, people always want to come up and talk about the 1957 Chevys.”
