I was recently reintroduced to one of my favorite skin care lines. Sometimes after using a product for so long, you feel that it’s served its purpose and now your skin has become too accustomed and wants something else. The tough trick to finding a new skin care line that you like is that whenever you’re using something new, better, or stronger, your skin will tend to purge, especially when you’ve neglected any routine beforehand.

Whenever you begin a new routine, use it for at least a month or two in order to see its true effects.

I don’t usually care to mix lines, but sometimes a skin care line doesn’t have a particular item and you need to branch out. One item I am truly obsessed with is The Scrub, a must-have hydrating cream base with ultrafine micro-scrubbers that roll off dead skin, not scratch it off like some of the apricot scrubs out there. The ultimate factor is that it is gentle enough for daily use.

Here is a list of the top scrubs worthy enough for my royal chambers:

Clarins: One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser with Orange Extract, $35, clarinsusa.com

Philosophy: The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash, $40, philosophy.com

Aveda: Tourmaline Charged Exfoliating Cleanser, $29, aveda.com

Stila: Glowing Reviews Gentle Skin Renewal Scrub, $22, stilacosmetics.com

With these scrubs, you won’t find yourself feeling around your face for microbeads or redirecting them to an area on your face that’s lacking scrubbers. The above scrubs pack a gentle punch, like liquid sandpaper (for your face, of course).

Tip: When using a Clarisonic, do not use a scrub! Those cleansing tools are made to be used with a mild, ultra gentle cleanser with no exfoliators.

Trick: Whenever you’re using a daily scrub, especially in summer, you will exfoliate your tan away. Try using a daily face tanner to help even you out!
