Apparently there’s a month for everything — even burgers. May 1 kicked off National Hamburger Month and to celebrate, Kildare’s Irish Pub is serving up a month-long party in your mouth.
Owner Dave Magrogan decided to pay homage to the hamburger by putting his own spin on four of America’s most beloved burger joints: In-N-Out, White Castle, Smashburger and McDonald’s. #SorryNotSorry Five Guys. Magrogan explained in a news release that hamburgers are the cornerstone of classic American fare.
“My team at Kildare’s Irish Pub wanted to feature the food that can bring us all together,” he said.
Each week, four Kildare’s locations — including Scranton — will put their twists on a different burger. During the first week, May 1-10, the hamburger inspired by the popular In-N-Out burger from the West Coast has finally made its way to the East Coast. The burger comes with a mustard-cooked beef patty, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, extra spread and caramelized onions, served on a toasted roll for $10.99.
Alex Delaney of Scranton tried the burger and said it’s the best burger he’s ever tasted.
“I’ve never been to California, so I never got to try an In-N-Out burger,” Delaney said. “I’m hooked, but I love all of Kildare’s burgers. I come to their $5 burger night they got on Tuesdays.”
From May 11-17, customers can experience four sliders modeled after White Castle’s signature sliders. Called “Royal Burgers,” burger-lovers will receive four steam-grilled beef patties with a bed of onions and a pickle slice — just like White Castle. The sliders will cost $10.99.
May 18-24, the pub will emulate one of America’s fastest growing burger brands, Smashburger, with their “Smooshed Burger.” The burger is served with “smooshed sauce,” ketchup, mustard, onions, pickles, cheese and a potato bun for $9.99.
The final burger in the ‘Famous Four’ is the Big MaCarthy Burger; and it’s the most affordable for $8.99. Available May 25-31, the burger will replicate the well-known Big Mac from McDonald’s; you know, two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions — on a sesame seed bun.
All burgers will be served with choice of fresh-cut fries, chips or a side salad.
Kildare’s kitchen manager Ryan Barrett is looking forward to the burger bonanza because he thinks it will prove the pub has a lot to offer.
“I think it’s going to be a great opportunity to show people we can do anything at Kildare’s,” he said. “We offer a great nightlife environment and we’re also a great eatery.”
