PLAINS TWP. — What started out as a fire in the yard of 14 Driftwood Drive almost spread entirely to the residence.
Crews were dispatched to the residence shortly before 1:30 p.m. for a report of a brush fire. The scanner later indicated that flames and heavy smoke were reported at the rear of the residence.
The backyard of the residence was charred black from the flames, and the side paneling of the house showed minor damage.
The homeowner declined to comment.
Captain Russell Howell of the Plains Township Fire Department said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
