…is hosting a World Cup Viewing Party with an added benefit to the local community?
Lucky’s Sporthouse (110 Schechter Dr., Wilkes-Barre) is hosting a World Cup Viewing Party every day from now until the final day on Sunday, July 13. The restaurant and bar has 30 HD TVs and tables with SoundDog, allowing guests to listen to the TV right at their table and never miss a second of the match.
For the World Cup, Lucky’s is featuring specials on Bud Light, and during the final, there will be free Bud Light giveaways for customers over 21, including rubber bracelets, cups, and buckets.
The World Cup Viewing Party will also benefit the South Wilkes-Barre Skyhawks Youth Soccer Club. The youth organization will be distributing hundreds of fundraiser flyers within the local soccer community, and Lucky’s will donate 15 percent of checks during the World Cup to the Skyhawks organization if presented with a flyer.

…is Dan “Soupy” Campbell of Philly pop punk band The Wonder Years doing back in Wilkes-Barre?
He’s performing an acoustic set as his solo side project Aaron West and The Roaring Twenties on Tuesday, July 1 at 5 p.m. at the Gallery of Sound (186 Mundy St., Wilkes-Barre). It is a free all-ages event, but if you pre-order the album “We Don’t Have Each Other” on CD or LP, you will receive wristband that guarantees entry to the show, a meet and greet, and a poster to get signed.
“Everything I had ever written lyrically up to this point had been nonfiction,” Campbell said. “I wanted to push myself to get those same emotions out of a character piece, to make a piece of fiction feel just as raw and personal as songs about my life, and so I created a man named Aaron and I set out to truly understand him.”

Where…
…is the next summer boating event being held in NEPA?
The American Power Boat Association, Berwick Area Boat Club, and the Berwick Area United Way are hosting the first Berwick Area Regatta – outboard boat racing on the Susquehanna River at Test Track Riverfront Park in Berwick on June 28 and 29 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Along with the boat racing, there will be a carnival with food, rides, and games for all ages starting Friday, June 27 from noon until 7 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Parking is $5, and be sure to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.
The boating associations have attempted to run races in Berwick for the last three years in October, but weather and river levels were unsafe. The proceeds benefit the area Boy Scouts and the Ber Vaughn Pool revitalization.

…is the next Writers Showcase at The Vintage (326 Spruce St., Scranton)?
The next installment will be held on July 12 at 7 p.m., hosted once again by Brian Fanelli and Jason Lucarelli.
Readings by local and visiting writers including Bryne Lewis, Paul Capoccia, Charlotte Lewis, Eric Wilson, and special guest Bernadette McBride, who teaches writing and literature at Bucks County Community College and has been published in numerous journals and anthologies nationally, as well as in the U.K., and featured on NPR’s “The Writer’s Almanac” with Garrison Keillor. A former Poet Laureate of Bucks County, she has been twice nominated for a Pushcart Prize, was second-place winner of the international Ray Bradbury writing award, and both a finalist and runner-up for the Robert Fraser poetry prize.
The event is $5 to help support The Vintage. Light refreshments will be provided.
